Are we on a downward slide? - 7/22/2004 Online dating is on the rise and it's great for those of us who have few other opportunities to meet people. But I'm a little worried. Are we approaching an era in which the meat market mentality is the norm? Are they going to begin charging more for the more highly prized members of our species? Is it soon going to be routine to hear "Is that your husband? How much did you pay for him? ... 5 response(s), 0 votes |

Needing opinions on helping family and trying to date at the same time. - 7/20/2004 I need some opinions no my situation. My dad past a way a few years ago, leaving my mom with very little. My mother, who is self employed, has a limited amount of money, which mostly goes toward doctor visits and insurance. Because she is unable to afford to live on her own and I don’t have the money to help her get a place, she lives with me. Not to mention, she doesn’t ... 7 response(s), 0 votes |

Who calls who? - 7/19/2004 I'm sure everyone has been in this predicament. You meet someone you like and he calls but not as often as you like and you don't want to call him and make yourself seem desperate or needy so you don't call. Is it okay men for a woman to call you? Does it make you want to run? Should a woman call a man more than he calls her? 4 response(s), 0 votes |

Did I act to hastily? - 7/15/2004 Some months ago, I met a Christian man at another online service. We corresponded for a week and then suddenly he put me on hold (similar to blocking here at BC). He had been the first to contact me so I was stunned by this turn of events. In retrospect, there was nothing stunning about it. It had been very difficult getting him to respond to me the whole time. I considered my options. At ... 6 response(s), 0 votes |

Church Wear? - 7/14/2004 My church changed pastors recently and he's a great Pritcher. but I do have one problem with him, he doesn't wear a tie and dress up. He says it will make young people want to come to church. However I was always taught that you wear your best to church, and if you don't have any better than that's fine God wants you as you are. My opinion though is that the pritcher should set an example ... 13 response(s), 3 votes |

Are introverts capable of relationships? - 7/12/2004 The title pretty much sums it up! The reason I ask is because someone who is introverted is by definition, someone who lives inside of his/her own head and is inwardly focused. So can such a person be in a relationship, long-lasting, romantic, or otherwise? 3 response(s), 0 votes |

God as a father? - 7/7/2004 I was listening to a sermon almost 2 months ago, and I was hit hard by something that was said. The speaker said that we should all consider God to be our heavenly father, and for those of us who couldn't think of Him as such due to our relationships with our earthly fathers, we should embrace that concept even more readily. I have had much trouble involving my earthly father, and for the ... 4 response(s), 0 votes |

Which contact method works best here? - 7/1/2004 Here at BigChurch, we have these different ways to contact someone. You can send email, you can page someone on IMC, you can wink at them or you can ask them to join your Friend Network. Some seem to be dead end methods. I don't know how you respond to a wink, other than winking back, which I don't feel comfortable doing because I want to start out as friends first. And as for the Friend ... 5 response(s), 0 votes |

Christian Youth Groups? - 6/30/2004 I am from the Czech Republic and am involved in our youth group organization. We have had some troubles having new people coming to our meetings or even church members coming to service. I came to visit my friends in the US and hoped I will get inspired and pleased by young people in the church here. But anywhere I came I saw just elder people in the church. My roots are in a traditional ... 5 response(s), 0 votes |

Why do men lie about how tall they are? - 6/29/2004 I am a 5'6" woman and would like a relationship with a tall man but I am open to others too. I would at least like to look at a man in the eye.
Several of the men I have met had either said they were 5'10" or 5'6" when I met them they were 2 to 3" shorter than they said? Do they really think they are as tall as they say?
They are very sweet gentle men and ... 11 response(s), 0 votes |

God told me. - 6/26/2004 I feel that people say too often that God told them to do something. I've seen peole say this and then the thing (marriage, ministry, job, etc)doesn't work out. What kind of testimony is that? I think Christians need to cut down (all the way down!) on their use of this statement. How do others feel about this issue? 5 response(s), 0 votes |

Does anyone practice true Christianity anymore? - 6/25/2004 I just want to know if there are any true worshippers left. I see people and hear people talk about how they are living for the Lord, but yet and still they do not live by the word. Say for instance, there are some who say they smoke, drink, gamble and on some occasions live the "commn-law" marriage, swearing; and the so-called "born-again" homosexuals who still engage in homosexual acts ... 3 response(s), 0 votes |

Should "All My " bond us?.... - 6/24/2004 I am and only , my Mom and Dad's only ... While growing up, my Dad was self employed; therefore, he kept me, got me ready for school, checked homework, taught me about the "runnings" of business, and so on and so forth, which developed a great relationship between he and I... By my Mom being career oriented, more of a "socialite", going to her meetings and clubs, and etc... she and I didn't ... 3 response(s), 0 votes |

When someone doesn't reply what should yo do? - 6/18/2004 When you've exchanged messages with someone a few times and then at some point you write to them and they don't respond, what should you do? Should yo consider that encounter over? Or should you bug them for a response (which is kinda what I did with several guys, I hate to admit)? 11 response(s), 0 votes |

What's Going on Here? - 6/17/2004 I've been a member of some large secular singles sites, but I joined BigChurch last week because it advertises "Bringing People Together in Love and Faith, " so I expected to find a lot of good-hearted single believers who love the Lord and want to experience genuine friendship or love with another Christian single person.
I was thoroughly enjoying my time here until I ... 10 response(s), 0 votes |

Should physical appearance be important to Christians? - 6/16/2004 I'm very conflicted about Christians (myself included) wanting someone who fits this world's standards of beauty. Are we all just really shallow and spiritually immature? I have to say yes! If a wonderful, kind, gentle, godly person comes in what we consider an unattractive package, we reject him or her outright! Can anyone comment on this issue? Thanks! 5 response(s), 0 votes |

HAS HOLY GHOST LEFT HIM!!! - 6/16/2004 i'm not sure if the HOLY SPIRIT has left my pastor, it seems as if what he does could not be easily associated with what God planned for the pastors or the people he calls to lead his people(the congregation). i want to know if i'm wrong in evalueting his prachings and always find them weak and wanting because several times i grasp what he is trying to say, always it sounds like a moral ... 0 response(s), 0 votes |

How should online relationships be ended? - 6/14/2004 I've corresponded very briefly with three guys at another online dating service. They all stopped writing very abruptly with no goodbye. I think it's very unchristian. Just because you're online doesn't mean you're exempt from showing the kindness the bible commands us to show one another. How have online relationships ended for others in here? I appreciate any answers. Thanks! 2 response(s), 0 votes |

Love by Walt Disney - 6/7/2004 What is the deal with this "true love" business? I mean realy can we move beyond Walt Disney? Love is a comitment. True Love is a made up Hollywod ideal. It is also an excuse for too many divorces. "He just wasn't the right one for me." Don't get me wrong I believe in romance. I just believe it has more to do with passion and cooperation then "true love." 5 response(s), 0 votes |
