just entered will be to you a happy new year. It is in your
power to make it such for yourself and for those around you.

How we can serve the needs of our older people during the holidays? 12/25/2008
How we can serve the needs of our older people during the
holidays?
Give them the gift of time. It's fine to go caroling,
but older people need more than a few carols sung at the door.
They need meaningful contact with people. A young man asked
a family member. "What can I give my mother for Christmas?"
He wasn't quite prepared for the answer. "She
doesn't need any of the things you want ...

Count Your Blessings 12/25/2008
I've never made a fortune, and it's probably too
late now. But I don't worry about that much, I'm happy anyhow.
And as I go along life's way, I'm reaping better
than I sowed. I'm drinking from my saucer, 'Cause my cup has
overflowed.
Haven't got a lot of riches, and sometimes the going's
tough. But I've got loving ones all around me, and that makes
me rich enough.
I ...

Take God At His Word–It’s A Gift 12/24/2008
“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other
name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Acts 4:12.
To accept the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ is
to admit that all of us are sinners who need a Savior. To accept
the gift of salvation and not try to repay by our works is
to forgo the ability to boast that we are better than our ...

F A M I L Y 12/23/2008
I ran into a stranger as he passed by, "Oh excuse me please" was my reply. He said, "Please excuse me too; I wasn't watching for you."
We were very polite, this stranger and I. We went on our way and we said goodbye. But at home a different story is told, How we treat our loved ones, young and old.
Later that day, cooking the evening meal, My stood beside me very still. When I ...

God Has Kept Me Here For A Reason 12/23/2008
Repeat after me: God has kept me here for a reason. I survived
because He has a plan for me. All my bad relationships, the
addictions, the consequences, the bad credit, the repossessions,
the death of my loved ones, the back stabbing from my friends,
the negative thoughts, or the lack of support; I made it
because I am blessed! I release and let go of all past hurts, misunderstandings
and ...

Dream what you want to dream; Go where you want to go; Be what you want to be, Because you have only one life And one chance to do all the things You want to do.
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, Enough trials to make you strong, Enough sorrow to keep you human and Enough hope to make you happy.
The happiest of people don't necessarily Have the best of everything; ...

the poer of your thought 12/16/2008
One great asset that we have is our thought. Nothing not
even the almighty God interferes with it. But whatever
we give it to can make use of it, including situation of life
and circumstances; spirit and human. Our thought has an
awesome power that can do anything that comes to it, and
that can be used to do anything by whichever power will give
it to. As human, you control the awesome power of ...

My Christmas List 12/15/2008
I have a list of people I know, all in my email address book, And now at Christmas time I have gone to take a look.
And that is when I realize these names... they are a part, Not of the PC they're stored in, but taken from my heart.
For each name stands for someone who has crossed my path sometime, And in that meeting they've become the rhythm in each rhyme.
And while ...

Teach Me To Forgive 12/14/2008
One day a while back, a man, his heart heavy with grief, was
walking in the woods. As he thought about his life this day,
he knew many things were not right. He thought about those
who had lied about him back when he had a job. His thoughts
turned to those who had stolen his things and cheated him.
He remembered family that had passed on. His mind turned
to the illness he had that no one could ...

A clothesline was a news forecast To neighbors passing by. There were no secrets you could keep When clothes were hung to dry.
It also was a friendly link For neighbors always knew If company had stopped on by To spend a night or two.
For then you'd see the fancy sheets and towels on the line; You'd see the company tablecloths With intricate design.

JUST POWER 12/13/2008
I woke at 4:00 am this morning by the words "JUST POWER"
repeating over and over in my mind. It didn't take long
to understand the words were not "just power",
but "JUST POWER". So as I usually do with this
type of thing is say, "okay God what do you want me to
know?" As usual, HE is faithful to respond. In this
case it came immediately. So here is what I believe it to
mean.
We use ...

My Father's Way 12/12/2008
My Father's way may twist and turn, My heart may throb and ache, But in my soul I'm glad I know, He maketh no mistake. My cherished plans may go astray, My hopes may fade away, But still I'll trust my Lord to lead, For He doth know the way. Though night be dark and it may seem, That day will never break, I'll pin my faith, my all in Him, He maketh no mistake. For by and by the mist will lift, And ...

The Living Bible 12/12/2008
His name is Bill. He has wild hair, wears a T-shirt with holes
in it, jeans and no shoes. This was literally his wardrobe
for his entire four years of college. He is brilliant - kind
of esoteric and very, very bright. He became a Christian
while attending college. Across the street from the campus is a well-dressed, very
conservative church. They want to develop a ministry to
the students, ...

I Want To Know 12/11/2008
I want to know, when day is done, That life has been worth living, That I have brought somebody joy Through kind, unselfish giving.
I want to feel, when evening falls and shadows quickly lengthen That I have made somebody glad, Some weakness I have strengthened.
I want to know that come what may I've left some cheer and gladness; I want to feel at close of day I've banished ...

My Life 12/8/2008
My life is but a weaving between my God and me, I do not choose the colors, He worketh steadily. Oftimes He weaveth sorrow, and I in foolish pride, Forget He sees the upper, and I the underside. Not till the loom is silent, and shuttles cease to fly, Will God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why. The dark threads are as needful in the skillful Weaver's
hand As the threads of gold and ...

The Best Christmas 12/6/2008
The Christmas party was over. Several of the men were sitting
at a table reminiscing about the Christmas days of their
childhood. The conversation turned to the best Christmas
of their lives. As they went around the table, they noticed
one man hadn't said anything. They asked, "Come
on.. Frank, What was your best Christmas?" Frank said, "The best Christmas I ever had was when
I didn't even ...

Captive of the Senses 12/4/2008
“But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall
be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which
thou hast provided?” Luke 12:20.
Did you ever try to persuade a sitting with you at a
window in a fast moving train that he is moving and not the
trees that seem to flit past the train window? In vain too,
we remind ourselves that this apparently ...

50 Years Ago 12/3/2008
Fifty Years Ago
A little house with two bedrooms and one car on the street, A mower that you had to push, to make the grass look neat. In the kitchen on the wall, we only had one phone, and no need for recording things --- someone was always home.
We only had a living room, where we would congregate, unless it was at meal time, in the kitchen where we ate. We had no need for ...

I Refuse To Be Discouraged 12/2/2008
I refuse to be discouraged, To be sad, or to cry; I refuse to be downhearted, And here's the reason why...
I have a God who's mighty, Who's sovereign and
supreme; I have a God who loves me, and I am on His team.
He is all wise and powerful, Jesus is His name; Though everything is changeable, my God remains the same.
My God knows all that's happening; beginning to the ...

Eve. He hadn't been anywhere in years since his wife
had passed away. He had no decorations, no tree, no lights.
It was just another day to him. He didn't hate Christmas,
just couldn't find a reason to celebrate. There were
no in his life. His wife had gone. He was sitting there looking at the snow that had been falling

Thankfulness–A Remedy For Worry 11/29/2008
“Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made
known to God.” Phil. 4:6.
I know the day set aside for a day of thanksgiving here in
North America, has passed, but I couldn’t miss the opportunity
to encourage the readers of this message worldwide to make
it a daily thing. Giving thanks just does ...

Attitude is Everything 11/29/2008
John is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good
mood and always has something positive to say. When someone
would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, "If
I were any better, I would be twins!" He was a natural
motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, John was there telling
them how to look on the positive side of the situation. Seeing this style really made ...

man: but ‘God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted
beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also
make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.’”
1Cor. 10:13. NKJV

tense.

Thankful For Beauty 11/26/2008
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament
shows his handiwork.” Ps. 19:1.
God is the author of all beauty. He created the beautiful
world and gave to His a desire for that which is
lovely. An atheist asked his Christian friend to prove to him the
existence of God as they walked through the fields together
one day. The unbeliever expected a deep ...

Closed Doors 11/25/2008
We need to learn to praise the Lord as much for a closed door
as we do an open door. The reason God closes doors is because
He has not prepared anything over there for us. If He didn't
close the wrong door, we would never find the right door.
God directs our path through the closing and opening of
doors. Once a door closes, it forces you to change your course.
Another door closes, it forces ...

We Thank Thee 11/23/2008
“Offer unto God thanksgiving, and pay thy vows unto the
Most High.” Ps. 50:14.
There is much in the Holy Scriptures to encourage a spirit
of thanksgiving. In the Old Testament the psalms sing of
praise, rejoicing, blessing and hallelujah. In the New
Testament Jesus speaks of joy and thanksgiving even in
the shadow of the cross. His disciple Paul expressed gratitude ...
